Learning Objectives

The goal of this conference, consistent with the ASCP Educational Affairs goal, is to enhance participant knowledge and competencies in providing pharmaceutical care to elderly individuals as part of the interdisciplinary team, which results in their improved health and well-being. Knowledge, competencies, and needs in the following general areas will be enhanced:

  • Optimal medication therapy management
  • Patient safety and treatment efficacy
  • Participant knowledge of legal, regulatory, business practice, and related issues
  • Participant educational needs for meeting re-licensure requirements

 

Target Audience

This conference's educational activity is designed for consultant and dispensing pharmacists who care for older adults. Other health care professionals are encouraged to attend ASCP's continuing education activities. While ASCP awards only continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credit, non-pharmacist attendees may submit CPE to their respective professional boards for consideration.

 

Continuing Education Activity Types

In continuing alignment with ACPE standards, the continuing pharmacy education activities at this conference fall into the following categories:

  • The education sessions are knowledge-based activities where the participant will acquire factual knowledge OR application-based activities where case studies address the application of knowledge.
  • The workshops held in conjunction with the conference may be application-based (A), or practice-based (P).
    • Delivering Medication Therapy Management Services in the Community (P)
    • Fundamentals of Consultant Pharmacy Practice (P)
    • Private Practice Boot Camp: Delivering a Medication Management Service That Has Value, Generates Revenue, and Works (A)

 

Requirements to Obtain CE

To receive continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credit, participants must attend the activity in its entirety and evaluate the activity on the ASCP Professional Development CEnter. To access the evaluation, participants must enter the CPE code for the educational activity attended. The CPE code will be announced during the session introduction.
